"Amazing
Tricks Forgotten"
By Jeff
Sikora |
A Message From Our President:
Dear OMS Members,
This coming Monday, April 21st, Jeff Sikora will be teaching 10 great
magic tricks, so please bring a deck of cards and something to take
notes with. I am sure that you will love what he will be teaching.
I would also encourage all of you to Bring-a-Trick to perform for our
group after Jeff is done teaching. Your added participation helps make
our club great !
If you are new to our club, consider this a great time to do your 5
minutes of magic before the club members. But if you are not ready yet,
please don't stay home in fear that I might call your name! You can
perform at another date. We are all just anxious to see you perform. And
we don't bite.
PS: Remember, we have the Professional Bruce Johnson Lecture on Monday,
April 28th, 7PM at the church. This will be a time that you will be able
to buy new and different magic than is seen in this area. All the new
magic will be demonstrated at the lecture. Professional Lectures are $10
at the door for members. Bring some extra cash to buy that fantastic
trick that you just saw demonstrated !
Sincerely,
Ron Gerard, President
Omaha Magical Society

Non-Members - $15.00
The Sioux City Magic Club's next meeting will be a
SPECIAL LECTURE by Bob Sheets, on a special day, Monday, May 12,
7pm at our regular meeting place, Augustana Lutheran Church, 6th &
Court, Sioux City, Iowa. The cost for this lecture will be $10 for
members, $15 for non-members. You could check out his website to learn
something about him: www.bobsheets.com. Several of our members have seen
him lecture and report that Bob is really funny and does great magic
that is appropriate for all skill levels. Mark your calendar now for
Monday, May 12.
Here's some more info about Bob...
Best Lecturer of the Year at the world famous Magic Castle ...
and now you can see why.
After 40 years in magic Bob Sheets is a triple threat--proficient at
Close-up, Stage, and Bar Magic. The lecture includes items from all of
these forms with specific attention to close-up and walk-around magic
with material from his new dvd series "Bob Does Hospitality". The
walking through the rope known as "Hang 'em High" is pure magic that
anyone can do, and the bar and close-up items are sure-fire
audience-tested material. No one does the 3 shell game better than Bob.
No fluff. All of Bob's routines have been tested in true-life
performance conditions. Bob's thirteen years in the bar and restaurant
biz allowed him to perform more shows than most magicians perform in
their entire career. Here is experience for all levels to draw from and
he's a pretty funny guy, too. The lecture should be well received by
beginners as well as the seasoned or over seasoned practitioners of our
art.
Bob Sheets from Washington, D.C. via San Diego, Chicago, & Aspen. Behind
Bob's humorous presentation style is experience gained from one of the
most diverse work histories in Magic. Serious credentials in a variety
of venues include Circus and Side Show performer, Shopping Center Magic
promotions, Magic Bartender, Street Magician, Bar/Restaurant Owner,
Renaissance Festival performer, Magic Dinner Theater entrepreneur, Trade
Show crowd stopper, and Sales Meeting wake-up artist. Bob lectures and
performs for magicians all over the world, including England, Holland,
Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, Japan and
India.
In 1996, Bob won first place in London at the prestigious "Ron MacMillan
World Close-up Magic Contest." Bob was featured on the cover of MAGIC
Magazine in July 2004. Best Lecturer of the Year at the world famous
Magic Castle ... and now you can see why.
IF YOU GO TO ONE LECTURE ALL YEAR THIS SHOULD BE IT. THIS IS ONE OF THE
MOST INCREDIBLE AND FUNNIEST PERFORMER/LECTURERS YOU WILL EVER SEE!!!
So, I hope that gets you really excited about this SPECIAL LECTURE
(which will take the place of our regular Sunday meeting) on MONDAY, MAY
12, 7pm.
Let's have a BIG turnout for this lecture. And bring along some extra
money...I'm sure Bob will have stuff to sell, along with lecture notes.

Society of
American Magicians
Membership:
For those
of you who are not members of our National Society of American Magicians,
please consider joining. The magazine M-U-M (Magic-Unity-Might) contains
many fine articles and tricks. The talented John Moehring, previously editor
of MAGIC magazine, is taking over as the new editor starting with the
January issue. I have seen a sample of John's new format for assembly news,
and it contains photos and up-to-date news of assemblies. He will require
that we send reports within five days after our meeting to keep our report
current.
By
joining the national SAM before December 31st, you will receive a free copy
of a CD, 'Magic from M-U-M.' It contains 1,037 pages of magic including
cards, coins, ropes, children's magic, mentalism and illusions. You can
download your application from the SAM website:
www.magicsam.com or call toll-free
1-888-726-9644. (See ad in the November issue of Genii Magazine, page 56.)
Also your membership makes you eligible to hold office in Omaha Magical
Society. |
