MEETING NOTICE

The Omaha Magical Society meets every third Monday.
Meeting Location:
Southwest Church of Christ (124th & West Center)

Next Meeting: Monday, Feb 15

Garage Sale/What did Santa get you

This is an dual opportunity. First, we're having a garage sale. Any tricks/books/dvds/VHS tapes, pertaining to magic, ventriloquism, juggling, and the related arts can be sold here. (If you can find a buyer). Also, bring along a trick to perform, preferably one that Santa bought you for Christmas.

A Message From Our President:

I was absolutely enthralled the first time I saw a magician. Doves appeared and disappeared. Cards rose from the deck. He linked steel rings and floated a silver ball. I laughed in astonishment and so did everyone else. His methods were utterly mysterious to me. He seemed to manipulate reality. But, the truly marvelous thing was how he had everyone laughing, clapping and excited. That room was the bright center of the world for that shining moment and he was its star.

That is how I see magic still, 3 decades later. I trust that the Omaha Magical Society’s coming year will be one of excitement and wonder. We look forward to much magic performed and taught by our members and by magicians from afar. 2010 is already off to a great start with a grand Wizard’s Banquet. My thanks to all who worked so hard to make the evening magical. We saw excellent close up and stage magic in a beautiful setting and shared a meal befitting Merlin himself.

We have some great programs lined up and more on the way. This will be a year to learn new magic share with each other and enjoy the world’s greatest hobby.

I look forward to seeing you at the meetings, enjoying your magic and sharing ideas.

Friday's Magic Round-Table

Join the wizards at the "Magic Round-Table" each Friday afternoon, from 12:00 to about 1:30 Dennys' Restaurant, 3509 S 84th St, Omaha, NE.

Society of American Magicians Membership:

For those of you who are not members of our National Society of American Magicians, please consider joining. The magazine M-U-M (Magic-Unity-Might) contains many fine articles and tricks. The talented John Moehring, previously editor of MAGIC magazine, is taking over as the new editor starting with the January issue. I have seen a sample of John's new format for assembly news, and it contains photos and up-to-date news of assemblies. He will require that we send reports within five days after our meeting to keep our report current.

By joining the national SAM before December 31st, you will receive a free copy of a CD, 'Magic from M-U-M.' It contains 1,037 pages of magic including cards, coins, ropes, children's magic, mentalism and illusions. You can download your application from the SAM website:www.magicsam.com or call toll-free 1-888-726-9644. (See ad in the November issue of Genii Magazine, page 56.) Also your membership makes you eligible to hold office in Omaha Magical Society.
